Courage is knowing what not to fear

Courage is an authentic openness to Being, an understanding of what truly deserves fear and what does not. It is the resolute confrontation with the existential threats that reveal themselves in our Being-toward-death. Courage involves the recognition of the nothingness at the core of our existence, yet it is the decision to act in the face of this nothingness. It is not the absence of fear but the acknowledgment of it and the determination to transcend it, embracing our potentiality-for-Being and uncovering the truth of our existence.
